The Driveway Begins

An eventful day today – all our goods have arrived from the UK and our driveway has begun to take shape!

We’ve been told that it’s going to take around 100 dump trucks, each with 16 ton of gravel to create the driveway.   Terry, our dump truck/bulldozer driver started with the first few loads today and you can see his progress in the photos.

It’s amazing to see the land starting to develop and it was great to finally be able to drive onto it.   Won’t be long (well about 100 dump trucks long) until we can drive to the top!

The Container Arrives

For the last month we’ve been axiously awaiting the arrival of our container!    We were given the name of the ship the container was travelling on so that we could track it’s progress.   We watched it leave the Uk, heading for Holland, then Spain, then Egypt!     What was odd was that the container was now in Egypt, yet it was due to arrive in Canada in a few days.   Either this ship has some new super-propulsion or something’s wrong!   We contacted the shippers to express our concern, only to be told – “ah yes the container was moved onto a different ship and is now in Montreal”!    Thanks for letting us know guys!

Anyway, our arrival date came today and behold – the container arrived (along with three guys to offload it).

The three guys worked tirelessly throughout the day to fit the contents of our 40ft container into our 20ft storage unit.   It was touch and go towards the end, but thankfully it all fitted (just).

Take a look at the photos below to see the container arriving and then getting offloaded (and compacted!)
