Days 23 & 24

We visited the site a couple of times over the course of day 23, and each time something else had changed.

We arrived early on day 23 (28th October) to find that after our visit the day before they had raised the garage floor level to be correct and they had put the insulation down AND they had put the heat pipes in.  They had also put down the insulation on the basement floor.

When we came back later that day, about 5 o clock, we found that the garage floor had been poured and there were now heat pipes installed in the basement.

And so to day 24…… not much changed on site today (it was a Saturday so we weren’t really expecting it to).  We did find Terry on site (the excavator driver and guy who did our driveway for us), and he was there to bring in more fill to raise the level around the house.  Its amazing, they dig this really big hole, fill it with house foundations and then when they go to back fill there isn’t enough to fill the hole.  Mind you – the first floor level is a bit higher than the original ground level so that would account for a bit of a loss.

Day 22

And we’re back….  Our builder has returned from his vacation and work has started again on the house.  I know it has been more than a week but our builder is very busy.  He currently has 2 projects that need to be weather tight before the bad weather gets here.  I say before it gets here, you will see in the gallery that there is a picture taken from inside the car of the windscreen – covered in ice.

Anyway… there has been progress made with our build.  It may not look like much from the photos but the work that has been done is time consuming.  We now have plumbing roughed in in the basement, a membrane on the outside of the walls, back-fill nearly to the house, drainage for the window wells in the basement, pipework in to connect the well and heating system and a garage floor that is nearly up to the level that it should be.

Lots of little things that when added up make it look a bit more like a house 🙂
