Labour Day Parade

The first Monday in September is Labour Day.  It is a public holiday in Canada.  In Tatamagouche (and most other areas in Canada) it is traditional to have a parade on this day.

At 12 o clock the parade started.  We had front row seats (outside the house we are now staying in) along with 2 Labrador puppies (Ebony and Rebel) that we were walking for a friend of ours.  The parade had floats from a lot of the local businesses as well as community groups, although the main presence was the fire brigade.  They came from all over the area in different engines to join in.

Driveway Reaches The Top

Eighty eight dump trucks of gravel later and we’ve reached the top of the land!   Today was the first day we’ve been able to drive to the top of our lot (which is a lot easier than walking!).

There’s still some work to be done, and we’ll have to patch the road once the cement trucks, diggers and dump trucks have used it for the build, but this is a real milestone for us.
